What amplifier do I use to drive the linear motor?

For Trilogy Motors, three phase brushless amplifiers are used. Either linear or PWM amplifiers can be used. Linear amplifiers are best for extreme smoothness requirements and no EMI noise.

PWM amplifiers are used where high force or power is required. They are also more cost-effective and smaller than linear amplifiers.

Parker's servo drives such as the Aries, Compax3, Gemini and ViX are compatible with the Trilogy series linear motors. Standard connectors are offered on the positioners (see the How To Order section). Installing these per each drive's EMC installation guidelines will minimize EMI noise.

Our applications engineers or your local Parker ATC can help select the best amplifier.
